Vibrant young cellist YuJeong Lee is emerging as a dynamic presence on the international concert stage and is one of the most sought-out Korean cellists of her generation. Ms. Lee's warm,
lush tone, tremendous musical sensitivity and adventurous performances have earned plaudits
from audiences, critics, competition juries alike.
Having started playing the cello at the age of nine, YuJeong Lee pursued her musical studies internationally at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (entering at the age
of 15), Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, and graduated from The Juilliard School by completing her professional studies where she was a recipient of the Genevieve Hustead scholarship.
Ms. Lee gave her debut recital at the age of 13 in Sejong Hall in Seoul, Korea and has performed extensively in Korea, Europe and the U.S., giving recitals in Belgium, Holland, Italy, France,
and New York in many prestigious halls such as the Kumho Art Hall (Korea), the Kauffmann
Hall (Belgium), at the Royal Academy (UK), for the American-Irish Society of NY (USA), and
the Harvard Club of New York (USA), as well as accepting invitations from the Swiss and
American embassies in Korea, the Korean Music Society in Washington D.C., and making consistent appearances at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall, Recital Hall and IBK Chamber Hall.
She has performed chamber music concerts at the Seiji Ozawa Hall during the Tanglewood
Music Festival (USA), at the Cité de la Musique (Paris, France), the Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center (NY, USA), the Juilliard Paul Hall (NY, USA), the Franz Liszt Academy at the Y.E.S.
Music Festival (Budapest, Hungary), the Siena Accademia Chigiana (Siena, Italy), the Encore
Summer School (USA), the Sarasota Music Festival (USA), the Lindenbaum Festival (Korea) and
as an active chamber and ensemble musician, has collaborated with groups such as Ensemble
Nouvelle Génération de Paris, the Hwaum Chamber Ensemble, the Korea Chamber Orchestra,

the Seoul Spring Chamber Music Festival Ensemble, and the Lindenbaum Festival Ensemble.
Her performances have been heard on TBS, KBS FM and WQXR.
Lynn Harrell, one of the most respected cellists in the world today, expresses his ardent support of Ms. Lee, who he affirms is "undoubtedly a cellist of extraordinary ability" and "without
a doubt one of the very few cellists performing at the highest echelon in the field of music".
Her numerous competition awards include the Tchaikovsky International Competition for
Young Musicians (finalist, special prize winner at Sendai, Japan), Ewha, Dong-Ah, Joong-Ang, the
Korea Music Competition, the Holland-America Music Society Competition and the St. Louis
Symphony Orchestra Competition, and she has studied with cellists Mischa Maisky, Philippe
Muller, Myung-Wha Chung, Richard Aaron, Joel Krosnick and taken master classes with Frans
Helmerson and Boris Pergamenschikow.
In addition to her concerts as soloist and chamber musician, in 2009, Ms. Lee joined the faculty
of Seoul Arts Center Academy for Young Musicians.

Born in 1978 in Vienna, the pianist and conductor Florian Krumpöck is designated General
Music Director designate and Principal Conductor of the North German Philharmonic
Orchestra and the municipal theatre in Rostock.
"Forget Lang Lang and Arcadi Volodos. There are highly virtuosic masters of the keyboard in
Austria too." That was the considered opinion of the daily newspaper "die Presse" on the
solo debut of this pianist at the Vienna Konzerthaus venue.
The son of a cellist and an art historian was taking piano lessons at an early age with some of
the most celebrated pianists of the day, such as Rudolf Buchbinder, Gerhard Oppitz and Elisabeth Leonskaja. The great Daniel Barenboim, after hearing Florian Krumpöck play, declared
him simply "a wonderful pianist" and was instrumental in launching his very promising international career. Thanks to sensational reviews after his debut at the Tonhalle in Zurich with the
RSO of Moscow under Vladimir Fedoseyev, he was invited to perform at various music venues
in Europe, such as Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Zurich and Moscow, as well as in Israel, the USA,
China and South Korea. Highly acclaimed solo recitals at international events, such as the
Salzburg Music and Salzburg Easter festivals, the Bregenz Festival, the Bad Kissingen Summer
Music Festival, the Bachfest in Leipzig, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Music Festival and
the Klangbogen Festival in Vienna have cemented his reputation since then.
Sir Peter Ustinov introduced the young musician to a wide audience. Since his childhood,
Florian Krumpöck has built up a vast pianistic repertoire, including complete work cycles such
as J.S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas and 5 piano concertos,
plus numerous premieres and first performances of works by a range of composers (Korngold,
Wellesz, Weigl and Schreker among them), as well as unusual works for piano like Reger’s
Bach Variations and Stravinsky’s Trois mouvements de Petrouchka.

The German piano manufacturer Blüthner has provided him with his own concert grand
for life, and the instrument accompanies him on tours and to recordings.
To date, Florian Krumpöck has released six CDs featuring solo performances of works
by Mozart, Schubert, Liszt and Weber for the labels pan classics, hänssler classics, Preiser
records and Solo Musica Munich. At last he released a high-flying album featuring the first
two volumes of the "Années de pèlerinage" by Franz Liszt. His mentor Daniel Barenboim
has encouraged him to broaden his repertoire by adding numerous symphonic works and
operas and to become involved in conducting.
He made a sensational debut and attracted international attention in 2006 when he stood
in as conductor with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. After that performance, he was
appointed Principal Conductor of the Sinfonietta Baden.
In 2007 he conducted a highly successful New Year concert at the Kennedy Center in
Washington, which led to an engagement deputising for the new Principal Conductor of
the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Michael Boder, who has also become an important artistic advisor for him.
He gave a highly acclaimed solo debut at the Vienna Musikverein in 2008, playing two
complete cycles of 32 piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven for the first time.

podium in the premiere of Puccini’s La Bohème and several symphony concerts (including the
beginning of a complete Mahler cycle), as well as special concert events. He will also be
working for the first time with the Symphony Orchestra of Liechtenstein (as pianist and conductor) and with the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra, as well as taking charge for the fourth time
of the artistic direction of the Blüthner cycle in Vienna.
Upcoming projects include besides his debut as pianist and conductor with the Vienna
Symphony Orchestra in the famous golden hall of the Vienna Musikverein, guest conducting
engagements with the philharmonic orchestras of Würzburg and Nürnberg, the Brandenburg
Symphony Orchestra as well as conducting the premiere and several performances of Verdis
"Rigoletto" at the famous Operafestival Gars am Kamp. In Rostock he will conduct Rossinis
"Barbiere di Seviglia" as well as Verdis "Nabucco". Florian Krumpöck will work as a pianist with
Michael Boder for the first time performing the chamber concert by Alban Berg. Furthermore
he will record all piano concertos by Karl Weigl in cooperation with "Deutschlandradio". In
the fall of 2012, Florian Krumpöck will become the principal conductor of the Symphony
Orchestra Liechtenstein.

Germany and the cultural and economic center of the region. Its geographical position as one
of the largest harbors on the Baltic Sea has made it a crossroads for centuries. Scandinavian,
Russian and Baltic cultures have met there and intermingled with the traditions of Continental
Europe. Rostock is the home of north Germany’s oldest university, founded in 1418.
Since the 19th Century Rostock has been host to many famous musicians. Clara Schumann,
Heinrich Marschner, Anton Rubinstein, Hans von Bülow, Joseph Joachim, Pablo de Sarasate,
Arthur Nikisch, Siegfried Wagner, Max von Schillings, Richard Strauss, Edwin Fischer, Franz
Schreker, Adolf Busch, Hans Pfitzner, Georg Kuhlenkampff, Hermann Abendroth and Walter
Gieseking, among many others, have performed in Rostock. In the first decade of the 20th
Century, the Opera House in Rostock earned the name “The Bayreuth of the North”. Completely staged productions of the great works of Richard Wagner were successfully performed
in Rostock in a format borrowed from the Bayreuth Festival. At the same time, new operas by
Korngold, Krenek, Wolf-Ferrari, Busoni, Schreker und R. Strauss were presented. Richard
Strauss himself appeared as the conductor of his opera “Elektra”. The concert repertoire included a large number works from the classic and romantic tradition plus local premieres of
Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and his song cycle “Lied von der Erde” as well as symphonic
poems by Richard Strauss.

Now the Rostock orchestra, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, is the largest orchestra
in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the finest north of Berlin. It is uniquely representative of the
rich musical tradition of the city of Rostock. With over 80 full-time members, it provides the
orchestral component of the Volkstheater Rostock, which includes also an opera company, an
acting company and a ballet company.

Der Sohn eines Cellisten und einer Kunsthistorikerin zählte schon früh mit Rudolf Buchbinder,
Gerhard Oppitz und Elisabeth Leonskaja, einige der bedeutendsten Pianistenpersönlichkeiten
unserer Zeit, zu seinen Lehrern. Michael Boder, der auch zu einem wichtigen künstlerischen Berater wurde, ans Gran Teatre
del Liceu in Barcelona führte.
2008 gab er sein viel umjubeltes Solodebüt im Wiener Musikverein und spielte erstmals zwei
komplette Zyklen der 32 Klaviersonaten von L. v. Beethoven.
2010 debütierte Florian Krumpöck mit großem Erfolg in der Doppelfunktion als Pianist und
Dirigent beim renommierten Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lissabon und dirigierte erstmals das
Philharmonische Orchester Trier.
2011 gab er einen vielumjubelten Soloabend im berühmten Münchner Herkulessaal, der vom
Bayrischen Rundfunk übertragen wurde und debütierte am Pult der Norddeutschen Philharmonie Rostock, des Städtischen Orchesters Bremerhaven, des Wonju Philharmonic Orchestras sowie des Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestras.

Orchestra als Dirigent internationales Aufsehen und wurde daraufhin zum Chefdirigenten der
Sinfonietta Baden berufen.
2007 dirigierte er im Rahmen eines Neujahrskonzertes erstmals mit großem Erfolg im Kennedy Center in Washington, was zu einem Engagement als Cover des neuen Chefdirigenten
Michael Boder, der auch zu einem wichtigen künstlerischen Berater wurde, ans Gran Teatre
del Liceu in Barcelona führte.
2008 gab er sein viel umjubeltes Solodebüt im Wiener Musikverein und spielte erstmals zwei
komplette Zyklen der 32 Klaviersonaten von L. v. Beethoven.
2010 debütierte Florian Krumpöck mit großem Erfolg in der Doppelfunktion als Pianist und
Dirigent beim renommierten Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lissabon und dirigierte erstmals das
Philharmonische Orchester Trier.
2011 gab er einen vielumjubelten Soloabend im berühmten Münchner Herkulessaal, der vom
Bayrischen Rundfunk übertragen wurde und debütierte am Pult der Norddeutschen Philharmonie Rostock, des Städtischen Orchesters Bremerhaven, des Wonju Philharmonic Orchestras sowie des Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestras.

In der laufenden Saison leitet er am Pult der Norddeutschen Philharmonie Rostock die
Premiere von Puccinis "La Bohème", sowie mehrere Sinfoniekonzerte (die den Start eines
kompletten Mahler-Zyklus beinhalten) und Sonderkonzerte. Erstmals wird er weiters mit dem
Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein (als Pianist und Dirigent) sowie dem Bayrischen Kammerorchester arbeiten und übernimmt bereits zum vierten Mal die künstlerische Gesamtleitung des
Blüthner-Zyklus in Wien. Kommende Projekte beinhalten neben seinem Debüt als Pianist und
Dirigent mit den Wiener Symphonikern im Goldenen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins Gastdirigate bei den Philharmonischen Orchestern von Würzburg und Nürnberg, bei den Brandenburger Symphonikern sowie als Premierendirigent beim renommierten Opernfestival in Gars am
Kamp mit Verdis “Rigoletto”. In Rostock stehen Neuproduktionen von Rossinis “Barbiere di
Seviglia” und Verdis “Nabucco” auf dem Programm. Als Pianist wird Florian Krumpöck erstmals unter Michael Boder das Kammerkonzert von Alban Berg aufführen sowie eine Gesamteinspielung der Klavierkonzerte von Karl Weigl in Zusammenarbeit mit Deutschlandradio
präsentieren.
Die Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock ist der größte Klangkörper des Landes MecklenburgVorpommern mit einer weitreichenden Geschichte in der alten Hanse- und Universitätsstadt.
1897 wurde mit der Gründung des Rostocker Stadt- und Theaterorchesters eine neue Ära
eingeleitet und der Grundstein für die heutige Qualität und Leistungsfähigkeit des Orchesters
gelegt. Präsent in den Bereichen Konzert, Musik- und Tanztheater wurde die Norddeutsche
Philharmonie Rostock mit dem Kulturpreis der Hansestadt sowie für ihre Programmgestaltung
mit dem Preis des Deutschen Musikverlegerverbandes geehrt.
Nachdem GMD Gerd Puls ab 1957 in seiner fast 35 Jahre währenden Amtszeit einen Klangkörper von Niveau aufgebaut hatte, ließ GMD Michael Zilm in den Nachwendejahren mit einer
ambitionierten Programmgestaltung aufhorchen. Seit Ende der 90-er Jahre sind Michail Jurowski,
Wolf-Dieter Hauschild, Peter Leonard und Niklas Willén als Generalmusikdirektoren und Chefdirigenten sowie Bernhard Klee als Gastdirigent die Namen, welche das Konzertwesen besonders prägten. Seit August 2011 ist der Wiener Dirigent und Pianist Florian Krumpöck Chefdirigent und Generalmusikdirektor.

Bemerkenswert ist das seit einigen Jahren stets zunehmende Engagement bei Angeboten für das
junge Publikum. Über reguläre Kinder- und Jugendkonzerte hinaus unternimmt der Klangkörper
zahlreiche Aktivitäten, um die junge Generation mit klassischer Musik bekannt zu machen.
Als Mitglied der Europäischen Film Philharmonie spielte die Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock
Musik zu etlichen Filmen ein, u.a. 2008 die Musik zur neuen „Buddenbrooks“-Verfilmung.
Diverse CD-Projekte sind in Planung.
