In 1999, the band appeared on a split CD release with
Swedi band Dozer. e Unida poion was titled e
Best of Wayne-Gro EP. Later that year, they released
their debut ll length alb entitled Coping with the
Urban Coyote on the now den Man's Ruin Records.
Relations with their next record company in New Jersey,
American Recordings, ended with legal problems. eir
second alb, For e Working Man, was originally
scheduled for release in 2001 but is now in limbo. e
alb has surfaced on the Internet in bootleg form. In a
2002 interview, bassist Sco Reeder spoke out about
the delay in geing the ll-length alb released: "Everything was set to come out on American via Colbia
Records, and you know, we've been meeting a lot of
people who've been working on it," he explained. "e
awork was done, everything was looking really good,
and then, I guess, (American owner) Rick Rubin had a
falling out with Sony, moved the whole label over to Island
Def Jam, and apparently, aer months of being just strg
along — 'Oh, yeah, the release date got bped back a
lile bit' — finally we fod out that somebody at the label
didn't like the record, so they didn't want to deal with it.
e lawyers had to go back and foh for months and
months and months — a chess game where every move
takes two months... 'You have six days to reply to this
leer'...and...so we just got out of the deal, a month ago."
Since the delay, John Garcia has released three studio
albs and one live alb with Hermano and toured with
the band in the laer half of 2008. In 2004, Unida
appeared on the High Times Records' High Vole: e
Stoner Rock Colleion, contributing the track Le Us To
Mold. Garcia is also working on a solo alb. Ahur Seay
(principal song writer, guitarist) and Mike Cancino (drs)
along with their longtime friend Eddie Plascencia (who
also has been filling the bass duties in Unida recently)
have staed a new band called House of Broken
Promises (H.O.B.P.). H.O.B.P. have also filmed a video with
Rick Kosick (from Jackass fame) to coincide with the
release of their fohcoming alb Using the Useless.

universe.
Neben eigenen Entwürfen zeigt sie
auch das schöpferische Universum,
aus dem Girard seine Inspiration
zog: Volkskunst aus aller Welt, die
Girard Zeit seines Lebens
sammelte. Eine Auswahl von 300
Objekten aus seiner Sammlung ist
ebenfalls in der Ausstellung zu
sehen.
Alexander Girard (1907–1993) war einer
der einflussreichsten Textildesigner und
Innenarchitekten des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er
schuf farbenfrohe und opulente Welten, in
denen vom kleinsten Detail bis zum großen
Ganzen alles punktgenau und kunstvoll
aufeinander abgestimmt war, darunter das
Irwin Miller House (1953, Architekt: Eero
Saarinen) in Columbus, Indiana und das
legendäre Restaurant La Fonda del Sol
(1960) in New York. Girard entwarf Möbel,
Kleinobjekte und Stoffe, arbeitete für
Firmen wie Herman Miller und Braniff
International Airways und kooperierte mit
Designern wie Charles & Ray Eames und
George Nelson. Die große Retrospektive
des Gesamtwerks von Girard schöp aus
dessen privatem Nachlass und präsentiert
neben Möbeln, Textilien und Skulpturen
zahlreiche noch nie ausgestellte Skizzen,
Zeichnungen und Collagen. Neben eigenen
Entwürfen zeigt sie auch das schöpferische
Universum, aus dem Girard seine Inspiration
zog: Volkskunst aus aller Welt, die Girard
Zeit seines Lebens sammelte. Eine Auswahl
von 300 Objekten aus seiner Sammlung ist
ebenfalls in der Ausstellung zu sehen.
Aufgewachsen in Florenz als Sohn einer
kosmopolitischen Familie mit europäischen
und amerikanischen Wurzeln, studierte
Girard Architektur in London und lebte
anschließend in New York City, Detroit und
Grosse Pointe, Michigan, sowie in Santa Fe,
New Mexico. In seiner Schaffenszeit
zwischen den 1920er und 1970er Jahren
entwarf Girard eindrucksvolle Interieurs für
Restaurants, Privat- und Firmenkunden
sowie über 300 Textildesigns – die meisten
davon für die amerikanische Möbelfirma
Herman Miller, zu deren Textildirektor er
1951 ernannt wurde.

Unter Girards Kunden waren aber auch
Unternehmen wie die Fluglinie Braniff
International Airways oder John Deere, für
die Girard ein weites Tätigkeitsgebiet
abdeckte – von der Innenarchitektur über
Textildesign, Corporate Design, Typografie
und Möbeldesign bis hin zu Ausstellungen
und Kleinobjekten.
Zu Girards bekanntesten Werken gehören
die Inneneinrichtung für das Irwin Miller
House in Columbus, Indiana (1953 -57,
Architekt: Eero Saarinen), sein eigenes Haus
in Santa Fe (ab 1953) sowie die legendären
Restaurants La Fonda Del Sol (1960) und
L’Etoile (1966) in New York, in dem auch
Andy Warhol o verkehrte. Für Braniff
gestaltete Girard 1965 das komplee
Corporate Design in den für seine
Bildsprache typischen leuchtenden Farben
und Mustern: vom Flugticket über den
Loungebereich bis zu den Flugzeugen.
Einflussreiche Werke schuf Girard jedoch
auch in kleinerem Maßstab, etwa jenen
Schrizug des Wortes »love«, der bis heute
wohl Girards bekanntestes Bildmotiv ist.
Eine wichtige Inspirationsquelle für Girard
war seine umfangreiche Sammlung von
Objekten der Volkskunst, die er auf seinen
Reisen durch Mexiko, Indien, Ägypten und
andere Länder zusammentrug und die
schlussendlich mehr als 100.000 Artefakte
umfasste. Viele dieser Objekte verwendete
Girard in seinen Inneneinrichtungsprojekten
oder in spektakulären Ausstellungsinszenierungen, etwa in der Ausstellung »Textiles
and Ornamental Arts of India« (1954) im
New Yorker Museum of Modern Art oder in
dem von ihm gestalteten Pavillon »Magic of
a People« zur Weltausstellung HemisFair
(1968) in San Antonio, Texas (…)
