Welcome to
Technische Universität Berlin
European Embedded Control Institute
International Graduate School on Control 2016
Modules M07 / M08 / M12
1 Course Venue
Modules M07, M08 and M12 of the EECI International Graduate School on Control 2016 will be hosted at
Technische Universität (TU) Berlin. With approx. 34,000 students, TU Berlin is one of the largest technical
universities in Germany. It has a long tradition of research in science and engineering, reaching back to
1799. The TU campus is centrally located and easily accessible by public transport from anywhere within
the city.
Course Location
The courses will take place in the following classrooms:
• M07: EN223, 2nd floor, E-N-building, Einsteinufer 17, 10587 Berlin
• M08: EN223, 2nd floor, E-N-building, Einsteinufer 17, 10587 Berlin
• M12: MA042, ground floor, MA-building, Straße des 17. Juni 136, 10623 Berlin
A campus map can be found in Fig. 4.

Berlin
Berlin, Germany’s capital, is a vibrant cosmopolitan city, offering a wide range of cultural and touristic
attractions. Berlin is a green city, with rivers and canals, and is particularly enjoyable in spring and
summer. For further information on Berlin, check http://www.visitberlin.de
2 Travel Information
Berlin is centrally located within Europe and is easily reachable with its excellent train and flight connections.
Airports
• Tegel (TXL)
Tegel Airport is close to TU Berlin. To get to the TU campus take the airport shuttle bus (X9) to
Ernst-Reuter-Platz (15 minutes) or a taxi (10 minutes).
• Schönefeld (SXF)
Airport Schönefeld is located about 30 km away from TU Berlin, so a taxi is quite expensive unless
you share the costs. To get to the TU campus take the Airport Express train (RB 14, RE 7) to
Zoologischer Garten (approx. 30 minutes) or take S-Bahn S9 to Ostkreuz and change to S5, S3 or S7
to Tiergarten or Zoologischer Garten (approx. 50 minutes). Your ride requires an ABC ticket.
Travelling by Train
From the central station (Hauptbahnhof) take S-Bahn (S5, S7, S75, S9) to Tiergarten or Zoologischer
Garten (5 minutes). Check www.bahn.de or download the DB Navigator App for train connections.

Public Transport in Berlin
Berlin has a large and efficient public transportation network (Fig. 5). Check www.bvg.de or download the
BVG FahrInfo Plus App for connections and available ticket options. The closest stations to the TU
campus are
• By bus: 245, X9, M45 (”Ernst-Reuter-Platz”)
• By U-Bahn: U2 (”Ernst-Reuter-Platz”)
• By S-Bahn: S5, S7, S75, S9 (”Tiergarten”)
3 Accommodation
Below is a list of hostels and hotels, of which all are in the vicinity of the TU Berlin campus. Since the
TU campus is easily accessible by public transport, you can also choose to stay in a hotel in other parts of
the city. We recommend you to book your accommodation as early as possible. Also, given the short-term
duration of the courses, the university is not able to provide student accommodation to the participants.
