Students of St. Petersburg`s College of Management and
Students of St. Petersburg's College of Management and Technology on internship
From October, 25th till November, 3rd a group of apprentices of the St. Petersburg
College of Management and Technology, Russia attended an internship at partner
companies of the Vocational Training and Education Centre (VTEC) - Berufliche
Schule Farmsen Technik und Medien G 16.
Roman Shirokov, Dmitry Fomin, Andrei Kurmanaevski, Mikhail Kharitonovich and
Dmitrii Doroganov are apprentices in their third year of training. Their specialities are
machine construction and information and communication technology. The families of
those young men paid around 30 000 Rubles (approx. EUR 700) to let them get firsthand experience about life and work in Germany. After the welcome by
representatives of Arbeit und Leben Hamburg and the Vocational Training and
Education Centre (VTEC) - Berufliche Schule Farmsen Technik und Medien G 16,
they made the transfer to the youth hostel, near the city centre of Hamburg. Over the
next days, they had to find their way to their companies using public transport and do
their job. Yes, they did well by communicating in English and already a little bit in
German. If you like a challenge, then try the same in St. Petersburg, Russia!
First feedback from the students:
Mihail Haritonovich To Reiner Beyer Oct 29 at 6:52 PM
"My name is Mikhail and I'm from St. Petersburg. I'm participating in exchange
program, I am and 8 other students from 2 different colleges are working in Hamburg,
Germany for 2 weeks, it's not so long, but it's very interesting. After 4 days of tourist
stuff (look around city, visit some museums) with organization "Arbeit und Leben" and
lessons of basics of German language, we finally got to our companies. By the way,
thanks to friends of "Arbeit und Leben", Ms Olga Stelter and Mr Reiner Beyer, VTEC
Technik und Medien G16, Farmsen who was with us all the way. Me and 2 other
students were appointed to company "AVC Repair and Maintenance-Hamburg",
attended by Mr Herbst and Mr Finke, repairing notebooks, tablets, phones and much
more. At start it wasn't look like something interesting: all we were doing is testing
lots of same routers, just connecting same cables to same ports one by one all day
long. But it was only for first few days, now we are testing tablets, which is much
interesting. Our trip isn't over, but even for now I can say: this is good experience and
if I will get any other chances to participate in something similar - I will do it."
Maybe you think such kind of student exchange is no big deal, but you should
consider the large number of people necessary making such events possible. So, I'd
like to say thank you to the Russian apprentices, their teachers in St. Petersburg, to
my counterparts in Russia, Victor Smirnov, Vera Rashich and Alexander Kliymuk, to
my colleagues at "Arbeit und Leben Hamburg", especially to Olga Stelter, to our
colleagues at "AVC Hamburg", especially to Torsten Herbst and Thomas Finke, and
to my colleagues at the VTEC Berufliche Schule Farmsen Technik und Medien G16,
especially Holger Gerson and Michael Hirning.
It is always a pleasure seeing people working together across borders and get things
done!
