ECC und Gaspoint Nordic planen neue Partnerschaft
Leipzig, 21. Mai 2014 – Die European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) und die dänische
Gasbörse Gaspoint Nordic A/S (Gaspoint Nordic) wollen im Clearing-Bereich zusammenarbeiten. Die Zusammenarbeit zielt darauf ab, dass die ECC voraussichtlich ab Oktober 2014
Clearing- und Abwicklungsdienstleistungen für die an der Gaspoint Nordic handelbaren
Erdgasprodukte erbringen wird.
Gaspoint Nordic betreibt eine Handelsplattform für physische Gaskontrakte mit Lieferung in
Dänemark. Das Produktangebot der Börse erstreckt sich von kurzfristigen Within-DayLieferungen bis auf Geschäfte mit einer Laufzeit von einem Monat. Die Kooperation mit der
ECC ermöglicht Gaspoint Nordic eine Ausweitung der bestehenden Services, etwa auf den
24/7-Handel. Damit kann auch das neue dänische Regelenergiemodell umgesetzt werden,
das im Oktober 2014 in Kraft treten wird.

unterstützen. Unser Ziel ist, mit dieser Kooperation den dänischen Gasmarkt weiter an kontinentaleuropäische Standards heranzuführen, um diesen Marktplatz für aktuelle und
zukünftige Handelsteilnehmer attraktiver zu gestalten. Mit dieser Kooperation können wir
uns zudem optimal auf die Anforderungen aus dem europäischen Gaszielmodell vorzubereiten“, so Jacob Pedersen, Chief Executive Officer von Gaspoint Nordic.
„Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Gaspoint Nordic können wir unser Clearingangebot für
Erdgasprodukte erstmals nach Skandinavien ausweiten und dadurch Synergien insbesondere für die Teilnehmer schaffen, die bereits an anderen von uns geclearten Märkten aktiv
sind“, ergänzt Dr. Thomas Siegl, Chief Risk Officer der ECC.
Derzeit ist die ECC mit 21 Übertragungsnetzbetreibern für Strom und Erdgas verbunden
und erbringt Clearing- und Abwicklungs-Dienstleistungen für deutsche, französische, niederländische, österreichische und tschechische Gasprodukte. Darüber hinaus erbringt sie
das Clearing von Strom, CO2-Emissionrechten, Kohle und Herkunftsnachweisen für
Grünstrom.

Über ECC:
Die European Commodity Clearing (ECC) ist das zentrale Clearinghaus für Energie und
energienahe Produkte in Europa. Als zentraler Kontrahent übernimmt die ECC das Clearing
sowie die physische und finanzielle Abwicklung von Geschäften, die an der CEGH Gas
Exchange der Wiener Börse, der EEX, der EPEX SPOT, der HUPX, der Powernext und an
der PXE abgeschlossen bzw. an diesen Börsen registriert werden. Weiterhin wird die ECC
zukünftig auch Clearing und Settlement für die norwegische NOREXECO sowie für die
Cleartrade Exchange (CLTX) übernehmen. CLTX ist eine Terminbörse mit Sitz in Singapur
und London und gehört seit Dezember 2013 zur EEX-Gruppe.

Gaspoint Nordic unterstützt das marktbasierte Balancing in Zusammenarbeit mit dem dänischen Übertragungsnetzbetreiber Energinet.dk, indem sie erweiterte Handelszeiten im
Falle einer Gasversorgungskrise anbietet.
Gaspoint Nordic ist seit Dezember 2012 zu 100% im Besitz des dänischen Übertragungsnetzbetreibers Energinet.dk.

ECC and Gaspoint Nordic plan to start new Partnership
Leipzig, 21 May 2014. European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) and the Danish Gas
Exchange Gaspoint Nordic A/S (Gaspoint Nordic) are planning to cooperate in the clearing
sector. In the context of this cooperation, ECC will offer clearing and settlement services for
the natural gas products traded at Gaspoint Nordic, potentially as soon as October 2014.
Gaspoint Nordic operates a trading platform for physical gas contracts with delivery in
Denmark. The product offering of the exchange comprises maturities from short-term
within-day contracts to transactions with a monthly maturity. The cooperation with ECC
enables Gaspoint Nordic to further extend its existing services, i.e. with 24/7 trading. This
paves the way for the implementation of the new Danish gas balancing model which will
come into force in October 2014.
“With ECC, we have found an experienced and competent partner that will be able to support our immediate and future development needs. Our aim is to further align and adapt the
Danish gas market to continental European standards in order to make our market place
more attractive to existing and future trading members. Through this co-operation, we
believe we will be able to prepare ourselves for the requirements from the European gas

“The cooperation with Gaspoint Nordic enables us to extend our clearing offering for natural
gas to the Scandinavian market for the first time and to create synergies especially for
those customers who are already active on the other markets which are cleared by ECC“,

ECC is currently linked to 21 network operators for natural gas and power and assumes
clearing services for Austrian, Czech, Dutch, French and German natural gas products.
Moreover, ECC provides clearing services for power, CO2 emission allowances, coal and
guarantees of origin.

European Commodity Clearing (ECC) is the central clearing house for energy and related
products in Europe. In its capacity as the central counterparty ECC assumes clearing as
well as physical and financial settlement of transactions concluded on CEGH Gas
Exchange of the Vienna Stock Exchange, EEX, EPEX SPOT, HUPX, Powernext and PXE,
or registered for clearing on these exchanges. Furthermore, ECC will start clearing services
for the Norwegian NOREXECO and Cleartrade Exchange (CLTX) in the future. CLTX is a
Futures Exchange with offices in Singapore and London which is part of EEX Group since
December 2013.

Gaspoint Nordic offers an exchange based market place for physical trade of natural gas in
Denmark. The products offered all have short maturity ranging from within day to month
ahead. Gaspoint Nordic provides a market place to producers, retailers, energy companies,
trading representatives and large consumers on which they can buy or sell natural gas
anonymous and with no credit risk.
Trading at Gaspoint Nordic is based on continuous trading and is performed electronically
through an internet based trading system. This market model promotes further competition
and transparency hence contributing to a dynamic gas market.
Gaspoint Nordic supports market based balancing in cooperation with the Danish TSO,
Energinet.dk by offering extended trading hours in case of a gas supply crisis.
Gaspoint Nordic is 100% owned by the Danish TSO Energinet.dk since December 2012.
