highlight “THE BOORS” After the first presented show, “The Servant of Two Masters” “, the AVESSO Theatre group, chose to carry on its journey with the same author/playwright, Carlo Goldoni. In partnership with the Madeira Music Conservatory - School of Fine Arts, whose students of the Professional Performing Arts Course are also part of the cast, “The Boots” premières on May 15th at the Cultural Centre John dos Passos, in Calheta. A Comedy of manners, which through an entertaining and amusing story, satirizes behaviours, ridicules attitudes and mocks of some ways of thinking deeply surpassed in today’s society. In Venice, it’s time for the carnival’s festivities. All celebrate ... but a few. In Lunardo’s house, an old-fashioned man, no one may have fun or party! He completely opposes to such freedom. His wife and daughter disagree and contend, in vain, living imprisoned in their own home. The conflict intensifies when Lunardo, decides to marry his daughter, Lucietta, with no consideration for her feelings. He arranges everything with Maurizio, another coarse and rude man, father of Fillipetto. The two youngsters get engaged without knowing anything about it, and worse, without even meeting. Fillipetto eventually finds out about his father’s true intentions, and revolted, he plots a plan to meet and speak to Lucietta. He takes advantage of the Carnival season, and infiltrates himseft into his bride’s home dressed as a woman to be able to see her at least one first time. How it will turn out? You must attend it... 2 exhibitions “Martha Telles 1930-2001” Until May 6 The display gathers 33 oil paintings on canvas, part of the museum’s collection Museu de Arte Contemporânea São Tiago Fort Rua do Portão de São Tiago – Funchal Telephone: 291 213 340 Monday to Saturday: 10.00am – 12.30pm; 2.30pm – 5.30pm Guided tours require prior-registration.
