Holy Father’s Prayer Intention
For March 2015
Universal: That those involved in
scientific research may serve the
well-being of the whole human person.
For Evangelization: That the unique
contributions of women to the life of the
Church may be recognized always.
Wednesday, Mar. 18
Thursday, Mar. 19
For the eternal repose of the soul of Bet Ann Lopez
Friday, Mar. 20
Intercession for Life
For parents who have lost a child through miscarriage:
That they may know the comfort and hope that Jesus
brings;
WE pray to the Lord.
Pro-Life Reflection
If we endure, we shall also reign with Him.
~2 Tim 2:12
Reflection. In Lent, the Church enters more deeply into
meditation on the suffering death and resurrection of the
Lord Jesus.
Life was sacred because He made it and by His Passion
and Resurrection it is even more sacred because it is now
raised to the heights of heaven to reign with Him.
Prayer. Lord, I am filled with wonder at Your love for
human life, everyone, born and unborn! May our laws
and practices treat humans with the respect due them.
4th Sunday of Lent
March 14 & 15, 2015
2 Chronicles 36:14-16, The wrath and the mercy
19-23
of the Lord are revealed
in the exile and liberation
of His people.
Psalm 137
“Let my tongue be
silenced, if I ever forget
You.
Ephesians 2:4-10
Though dead in your
transgressions, by grace
you have been saved.
John 3:14-21
God sent His Son so that
the world might be saved
through Him.
Try not to let today’s readings be completely overshadowed by your familiarity with the passage from
John 3:16. There is so much here for contemplation and prayer, gratitude and
celebration. Indeed, God so loves the world that God has acted before in history through Cyrus of Persia, and even today through the Holy Spirit in our
own lives. As we listen to these holy scriptures today, in what ways do they
remind us of how God acts in our lives.
5h Sunday of Lent
March 21 & 22, 2015
Ezekiel 37:12-14
Psalm 130
Romans 8:8-11
John 11:1-45 or 11:3-7. 17, 20-27, 33b-45
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one
of these least brothers of mine, you did for
me” (Mt 25:40). Today, we are reminded that
Jesus identified himself with our poorest
brothers and sisters. The Catholic Relief
Services Collection serves Jesus in the victims
of human trafficking, in those who suffer from
unjust laws and in those who need pastoral care
and humanitarian assistance across the globe.

About “John 3:16”
By: Kristina M. DeNeve
Adult Faith Formation Coordinator
Diocese of Honolulu
Many Catholics believe they don’t “know” Scripture, yet many of us
can still paraphrase the ending to this famous line from the Bible,
“For God so loved the world that…” We may not make it to Mass
every Sunday, but we can trust “John 3:16” will appear on a poster in
the stands of every major sporting event. John 3:16 reminds us of
who Jesus is, what He did for us, how we who believe in Him are
destined for eternal life.
Unfortunately, may of us think of John 3:16 only in the past tense, as
history. God loved us. God sent His only Son, Jesus. Past tense,
yesterday.
This is a mistake. As Catholics, we believe God continues loving,
creating, sending. Jesus continues redeeming, purifying, bringing us
ever closer to God. The Holy Spirit makes God’s presence, Jesus’
presence known, helping us know God. Today. Not past tense. We
believe not because of the past but because of God’s continuous
actions in our lives.
God loves us today, continues to send Jesus and invites us to believe
so we might have eternal life. This Lent, today, is John 3:16.
