und liefern spannende Einblicke in die Welt – davon kann
man sich jedes Jahr bei doxs! von neuem überzeugen. Das
Dokumentarfilmfestival für Kinder und Jugendliche aus
Duisburg ist 2015 mit zwei Filmen beim IFFF Dortmund
| Köln zu Gast: Chicara von Simon Lereng Wilmont und
Nouhaila – Ich boxe! von Bettina Braun.

Ein wahrer Kämpfer gibt nie auf! Die Meisterschaft im Sumo-Ringen steht vor der Tür und für Chikara gibt es nichts
Wichtigeres, als sich zu qualifizieren. Dafür trainiert er hart.
Das Problem des 10-Jährigen ist nur, dass er furchtbar nervös wird, sobald sein Vater in der Nähe ist: Alles scheint
dann schief zu gehen. Der Ex-Sumo-Ringer, heute Besitzer
eines Nudelrestaurants, stand für den erfolgreichsten Club
Tokios im Ring und trainiert nun seinen Sohn. Die Erwartungen sind hoch und oft tun Chikara die Knochen weh,
doch will er nichts mehr, als in die Fußstapfen seines berühmten Vaters zu treten – um ihn zu beeindrucken.
A true wrestler never gives up! The Sumo wrestling
championships are approaching, and for Chikara, nothing’s
more important than qualifying for the contest. He trains
hard. The 10-year-old’s problem is that he gets nervous as
soon as his father is around: that’s when everything seems
to go wrong. The former Sumo wrestler, now owner of a
noodle restaurant, once stood in the ring for Tokyo’s most
successful club, now he coaches his son. Expectations are
high and often Chikara’s bones hurt, but there’s nothing he
wants more than to follow in his famous father’s footsteps –
and to impress him.

Geschichte über die Beziehung zwischen einem Vater und
einem Sohn.

Biografie
Simon Lereng Wilmont studierte Japanisch, Filmwissenschaften und Visuelle Anthropologie. 2009 schloss er sein
Studium für Dokumentarfilm an der Den Danske Filmskole
ab. Seine Dokumentarfilme wurden vielfach ausgezeichnet.

visual anthropology and film directing in Copenhagen. His
films have been shown at international festivals and on
television and have won numerous awards.
