Totgesagte leben länger! Das letzte Lebenszeichen
der belgischen EBM-Legende Vomito Negro ist bereits sieben Jahre her, aber nun meldet sich die
Band mit „Skull & Bones“ zurück, ihrem stärksten
und aggressivsten Album seit den Neunzigerjahren. „Nach dem ‚Fireball‘-Desaster waren Vomito
Negro eigentlich klinisch tot und kein Bandmitglied
hatte mehr Lust, etwas zu machen. Borg und ich
mussten die Band von der Pike auf wiederbeleben. Zu diesem Zweck haben wir uns die größten

It’s been seven long years since the last sign of life from
Belgian EBM-legend Vomito Negro. “After the ‘Fireball’disaster, Vomito Negro was clinically dead and, together
with Borg, I had to revive and reconstruct the band from
scratch. For this purpose, we started out with re-recording and re-programming the biggest band classics. With
that feeling in mind, we felt it was the perfect time to revive the beast that is Vomito Negro and started working
on the new album ‘Skull & Bones’ immediately”, says Gin
Devo. Even after a career spanning more than a quarter
of a decade, the band has lost none of its bite and “Skull
& Bones” is yet another dark and violent outcry against
the powers that be, as Gin explains: “The album is a concept album that is all about our elites, our presidents and
our governments and how they are connected through
secret societies, such as ‘Skull & Bones’: how they are
involved, acting like slaves of the war & arms industry,
the way they want to enslave us like headless consumers, the way they start conflicts around the world to gain
money and how they tell us to exchange freedom for
safety. Being slaves themselves they don’t know the joy
of freedom.” But the album is far from a mere pamphlet
- it revives the classic Vomito-Negro-sound in a fresh
and aggressive way that sounds just as menacing as it
did when the band was the record crate staple of any
Electro club. People getting their hands on the limited
first edition of the album are in for a special treat, as
the band are including a very special bonus disc titled
“The 2k10 Remakes” that includes the re-recordings of
classic Vomito Negro tunes that Gin
and Borg were mentioning earlier.
“Vomito Negro’s back catalogue is
already out of print for a long time,
and because it would be a shame
that all that ‘old’ material should be
lost for a younger generation, Borg
and I decided that it would be great
to release them again as remakes.
And now that we recorded them we
can say we are very happy with the
results”, says Gin and Borg adds:
“It’s also a document that tells the
younger people where Vomito Negro comes from and the older fans
where we are heading. The songs
might sound different but the original spirit is still there!” For anyone
into hard, dark Electro, “Skull &
Bones” is a must-own!

auf die Aufnahmen zu ‚Skull & Bones‘ gestürzt
haben. Aber nur so konnten wir sicher sein, dass
es auch wirklich wieder wie Vomito Negro klingt“,
erzählt Gin Devo. Das Ergebnis ist mehr als beeindruckend, haben Vomito Negro doch auch nach
einem Vierteljahrhundert nichts von ihrem Biss
verloren und einen Aufschrei gegen die Mächte,
die uns kontrollieren, auf Tonträger gebannt. Gin
erklärt: „Es ist ein Konzeptalbum, das beschreibt,
wie unsere Regierungen, Präsidenten und unsere Eliten sich in Geheimgesellschaften wie ‚Skull
& Bones‘ organisieren, wie sie uns zu kopflosen
Konsumsklaven erziehen, wie sie sich wie Sklaven
der Rüstungsindustrie verhalten und Konflikte in
aller Welt schüren, um Geld zu machen und uns
dann indoktrinieren, wir sollten unsere Freiheit
gegen Sicherheit eintauschen. Da sie selber auch
Sklaven des Systems sind, kennen sie die Freude
der Freiheit gar nicht.“ Das Album ist aber weit
davon entfernt, ein verkopftes Pamphlet zu sein,
stattdessen belebt es den klassischen VomitoNegro-Sound auf frische und aggressive Weise,
die noch immer so bedrohlich klingt, wie zu der
Zeit als die Band Pflichtprogramm in jedem Electro-Club war. Wer sich die limitierte Erstauflage
des Albums sichert, kommt darüber hinaus noch
in den Genuss der Eingangs erwähnten Neuaufnahmen auf „The 2k10 Remakes“.
„Da die alten Sachen eigentlich alle
vergriffen sind, wollten wir sie für
neue Generationen retten“, meint
Gin und Borg fügt hinzu: „Es ist ein
Dokument, dass den nachwachsenden Generationen zeigt, was Vomito Negro ausmacht, und den alten
Fans, wo wir in Zukunft hin wollen,
da viele der Songs doch ziemlich
anders klingen. Aber der ‚Spirit‘ ist
immer noch da!“ „Skull & Bones“ ist
ein Pflichtkauf für Liebhaber harter,
dunkler Electro-Sounds und mit der
Bonus Disc auch eine heftige Geschichtsstunde über die Geschichte
der EBM!
