Heart to Hand
Recently, a local physician
and his wife, in order to offer
thanks for the blessings they
themselves have received,
founded a Nevada non-profit
called Heart to Hand. Their
intention is to offer health
care at the most minimal cost
to persons without coverage.
Heart to Hand is already
offering medical consultation
to the homeless who make
use of other services at Saint
Vincent’s. Nonetheless, this
spring they asked me if we
would be willing to host a
Heart to Hand clinic here at
the Cathedral. Offering a
clinic at the Cathedral targets
an entirely different demographic than CCNN and
intends to provide families
and working or unemployed
adults without adequate
health care coverage an
opportunity for some
assistance in that regard.
We’re planning the first of
these clinics for Saturday,
September 13 from 9:00 AM
to 12:00 noon. We’ll have a
section of Righini Hall set up
for consultation.
Heart to Hand is administered by Bethany Weber;
her husband, Dr Shaheen Ali
MD, a local internist, is the
consulting physician. In his
professional practice, Dr Ali
treats diabetes, hypertension,
high cholesterol, sinus infections, coughs, urinary tract
infections, acid reflux,and, of
course, obesity, which usually
impacts all of the aforementioned problems. Both Heart
to Hand and the Cathedral
require participants to sign a
liability waiver.
Heart to Hand es una clínica
que se ofrece acá a la
catedral el 13 de septiembre
para personas de la parroquia
que no tienen seguro. A
continuación se muestra una
lista de las condiciones con
las cuales la clínica Heart to
Hand puede ayudar, si los
pacientes tienen ya una edad
de doce años en arriba: la
diabetes, la hiper-tensión, el
colesterol alto, las infecciones
simples como sinusitis e
infecciones de cabeza, la tos,
las infecciones del tracto
urinario, el reflujo ácido, y
por supuesto la obesidad, que
por lo general, abarca todos
los problemas anteriormente
mencionados. Para niños de
cuatro años en arriba también
pueden tratar la sinusitis.

STAIN GLASS WINDOW
The large stained window by the elevator
has been dark since the Renovation.
There have been some major
improvements in lighting this past year.
We are trying to add light to this window
so it can be viewed during certain times.
The lighting you see now is temporary just
to test different lighting fixtures capability.
As we progress I will keep you informed.
THE ANSWER IS:
God's gift to us is Forgiveness
Theme logo of the Diocesan Synod
The logo depicts disciples, the Church on
the road, on the move, on a journey. We
walk together on that journey, with the
mountains in the background symbolizing
northern Nevada. The Holy Spirit both
accompanies us and leads us on our
journey.
FROM THE SENIOR MINISTRY
It is our primary goal to assist the
senior community by an association
with a group of caring, dedicated and
determined volunteers. Our mandate is
to Educate, Keep Seniors Active, and
Involved and to be a source of
information for the many local, state
and federal programs available at little
or no expense. Samples of our current
activities include: “Lunch and Learn”
programs, Monthly Newsletter,
Learning New Technologies, Guidance
on Comfort and Aging in place, Free
Groceries (as appropriate), Weekly
Phone Calls to visit and check on a
member’s physical, mental and spiritual
health, Recreation Activities,
Assistance with Utility Bills (Per Health
& Human Services Guidelines), plus a
Christmas Celebration. Our programs
are funded by the receipts generated
from The Little Thrift Shop at 94 E.
Glendale, in Sparks plus donations
from caring individuals. It is important
to note that the Senior Ministry is an
unpaid legion of volunteers who donate
their time, energy and occasionally
their own funds to help.
There are NO paid volunteers.

JOK
An old man went to the Doctor complaining that his wife could barely hear. The Doctor suggested
a test to find out the extent of the problem.
“Stand far behind her and ask her a question, and then slowly move up and see how far away you are when she first
responds.”
The old man excited to finally be working on a solution for the problem, runs home and sees his wife preparing
supper. ” Honey” the man asks standing around 20 feet away “what’s for supper?” After receiving no response he
tried it again 15 feet away, and again no response. Then again at 10 feet away and again no response. Finally he
was 5 feet away “honey what’s for supper?” She replies “For the fourth time it’s lasagna!”
Entrada
Canto con todos los pueblos, Señor, con los que esperan de ti redención;
Salmo
Ojala escuchen hoy su voz: “no endurezcan su Corazón”.
Ofertorio
Gracias, quiero darte, por amarme; gracias, quiero darte, yo a ti, Señor;
Yo quiero ser, Señor amado, como el barro en manos del alfarero;
Te conocí y te amé, te pedí perdón y me escuchaste;
Dichoso el que con vida intachable, camina en la ley del Señor;
Postrada en el polvo está mi alma, devuélveme la vida tu palabra;
