FUSÃO COM A NATUREZA
Estamos em Harrington, Canadá. Na
margem do Lago Gate, majestosos cedros
erguem-se do terreno para, juntos, desenharem uma paisagem quase intocada
pela mão humana, uma paisagem de tons
predominantemente verdes e castanhos,
onde o tempo parece ter estagnado antes
da chegada das interrupções das tecnologias e dos ruídos da modernidade.
Numa abordagem inteligente e sensível à
riqueza do local, o arquiteto Eric Joseph
Tremblay, do gabinete Boom Town, procurou reduzir ao mínimo o impacto do chalé
Cedrus na paisagem, apostando em materiais e acabamentos, como madeira de cedro e pedras locais, que fomentam a ligação
entre o edifício e o espaço que o recebe.
O acesso ao interior do chalé é feito pelo
piso superior, onde uma grande varanda
abre caminho para a porta principal. É
neste andar que se encontram os quartos, entre os quais se destaca o quarto
principal, onde um amplo terraço abre
caminho para a entrada de luz natural
e brinda os moradores com uma incrível vista para o lago. No andar inferior
encontram-se as áreas comuns - cozinha, sala de estar e sala de jantar -, onde
as várias portas de vidro garantem uma
constante comunicação com as árvores
e o lago e facilitam a transição entre os
interiores neutros desenhados pela Boom
Town e por Mario Januario, da MJ Design,
e o jardim verdejante, organizado por
Jean-Pilippe Laliberté, que se funde com
a floresta de cedros que rodeia o lago
desde sempre.

FUSION WITH NATURE
We’re in Harrington, Canada. On the shores of
Lake Gate, majestic cedars rise up from the
terrain to paint a landscape almost untouched by
the human hand, scenery of predominantly green
and brown hues, in which time seems to have
stagnated before the arrival of interruptions of
a technological nature and of the sounds of the
modern world.
In an intelligent approach, sensitive to the wealth
of the site, architect Eric Joseph Tremblay, from
Boom Town architecture practice, has sought to
reduce to the very minimum the impact made by
the Cedrus chalet in the landscape, focusing on
materials and finishes, such as cedar wood and
local stones, that foster the connection between
the building and the space that welcomes it.

The chalet’s interior is accessed on the upper
floor, where a large veranda leads the way to the
main entrance. It is on this floor that the bedrooms are found, the highlight of which is the
master bedroom, where a large terrace allows
natural light to pour inwards and treats the inhabitants to incredible views over the lake. On the
lower floor we find the communal areas - kitchen,
living room and dining room -, where the many
glass doors ensure constant communication with
the trees and the lake and facilitate the transition
between the neutral interiors designed by Boom
Town and by Mario Januario, from MJ Design,
and the lush garden, organised by Jean-Philippe
Laliberté, which merges with the cedar forests
that have always surrounded the lake.

Na ilha de Al Reem, em Abu Dhabi, a mesquita Al Aziz
integra conceitos inovadores num elemento arquitetónico que é tradicionalmente conservador. O projeto,
assinado pela APG Architecture and Planning Group, tem
na fachada a sua principal característica, já que a mesma ganha uma nova vida durante a noite, dando ênfase
aos carateres árabes que se iluminam e fazem brilhar
intensamente os 99 nomes atribuídos a Alá no Corão.
O efeito, da autoria da empresa alemã LUCEM, é criado
graças a um sistema ótico de transmissão de luz LED,
escondido atrás da fachada.
On the island of Al Reem, in Abu Dhabi, the Al Aziz
mosque features innovative concepts in an architectural structure, which is traditionally conservative. The
project, designed by APG Architecture and Planning
Group, has its main characteristic on its façade, as at
night this springs to life, emphasising the Arabic characters that light up and cause the 99 names attributed
to Allah in the Koran to shine brightly. The effect, supplied by German company LUCEM, is created through
an optical system transmitting LED light, hidden behind
the façade.
