The existing high school was expanded by a freestanding building with 8 classrooms, a school library, a gymnasium and a cafeteria. A double flight of stairs
from the foyer leads to the sports area in the lower level and the teaching area
on the upper level. The classrooms and the library are arranged around a wide
central hall with a skylight. The ground floor offers a cafeteria with 72 seats for
students and visitors, and a spectators‘ gallery to the gym. The dressing rooms,
technical rooms and the gymnasium itself are located on the lower floor. The
facade is made of brick masonry and window elements in wood and aluminium. The interior shows the natural material wood. The energy concept includes
a ventilation system for the sports hall with heat recovery and geothermal heat
exchangers. Rainwater is collected in cisterns and used as grey water. The
excess water is lead to infiltration ditches.
