the acquisition of two voestalpine companies, which in future will

Injection moulding offers the
ideal technical prerequisites for
an expansion to China, for as
opposed to SMC pressing the

New orders demand modern production facilities, which guarantee output that corresponds with the current stateof-the-art. In July 2014, the plant in Aksaray (Turkey) was able to win an extensive order for the painting of plastic
components for trucks and this provided the signal for investment in a new production hall complete with paint shop.

The Aksaray plant, which is
located in central Anatolia,
has been part of the POLYTEC
GROUP since 2007. It has a production area of over 9,000 m2
and its output consists primarily of SMC parts for the commercial vehicles industry and
the non-automotive sector.
Following
the
successful
capture of a contract from a
leading commercial v
ehicle
manufacturer for the production of moulded parts, the
Turkish plant also received a
sizeable order involving the
painting of truck components.
Accordingly, the construction
of a new hall and the purchase of a modern paint shop will
now create the ideal produc-
tion conditions for both new
projects.
The cornerstone for a
successful future
Work started on the new building in the third quarter of 2014.
It will offer more than 7,000
m2 of floor space and thus be
able to accommodate a 2,200
m2 paint shop. D
ownstream
processes and a modern
warehousing concept are to be
realised on the residual area.
Overall investment costs will
be in the region of ten million
euros and the production and
painting of components for
some 20,000 trucks per year will
commence as scheduled in the
second quarter of 2016.

Neben seiner Produktionskompetenz im Bereich Heckklappenverkleidungen und Fensterrahmen, bietet das POLYTEC-Werk in
Wolmirstedt (Deutschland) Mehrkomponentenspritzguss an einer Anlage mit Wendeplattentechnik für Wasserkastenabdeckungen. Seit Anfang 2014 steht auch eine voll automatisierte Fertigungslinie für komplexe Ansaugsysteme zur Verfügung.
Die POLYTEC GROUP setzt
auf Lean Production
Im Sommer 2004 legte POLYTEC
den Grundstein für das Werk
in der Nähe von Magdeburg.
Bereits im Januar des darauf
folgenden Jahres erfolgte der
Produktionsanlauf für Kofferraumteile für den VW Touran.
Mittlerweile sind in dem Werk
in Wolmirstedt 150 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt und auf einer
bebauten Fläche von 9.000
Quadratmetern kommen Spritzgussmaschinen mit bis zu 2.300
Tonnen Schließkraft zum Einsatz. Vier Doppelkammersilos
mit je 50 Tonnen Kapazität ver-
sorgen die Produktionsanlagen
automatisiert mit Material. Der
Aufbau des Werks entspricht
einem Lean-Management-Konzept und beweist hohe Produktivität und Wirtschaftlichkeit.
Laufende Investitionen
stärken den Erfolgsstandort
2012 wurde begleitend zu einem Neuauftrag, einer Was-
serkastenabdeckung für den
VW Golf 7, eine Maschine mit
Wendeplattentechnik
installiert. Diese ermöglicht einen
Zweikomponenten-Spritzgussprozess in einem Werkzeug bei
gleichzeitiger Herstellung zweier Bauteile. So können komplexe
Dichtungsgeometrien in Hartund Weichkomponenten gefertigt werden.
Seit einiger Zeit erfolgt ein strategischer Ausbau des Standorts
für Produkte im Bereich des Motorraums. Hierzu zählen Produkte wie Zahnriemenschutz und
Motorabdeckungen sowie seit
kurzem Ansaugsysteme, die auf
einer vollautomatisierten Fertigungslinie erzeugt werden.

technology system was installed in connection with a new
order for a water box cover. This
technology facilitates a two
component injection moulding
process in a single tool and
the simultaneous production
of two parts. It is thus possible
to manufacture complex gasket
geometries using both hard and
soft components.
The strategic development of
the plant‘s core competences in
the engine compartment area
has been continuing for some
time and involves items such
as tooth belt and engine covers
as well as intake manifolds. The
latter represent a new addition
to the plant portfolio and are
manufactured on a fully automated production line.

Anfang 2014 wurde der POLYTEC-Standort in Lohne (Deutschland) als erstes Werk der
Gruppe mit der Zertifizierung ISO 50001 ausgezeichnet. Mittlerweile haben auch unsere
fünf deutschen Standorte der Geschäftseinheit COMPOSITES diese Auszeichnung erhalten.
Zukünftig werden für jedes Werk Energiekonzepte entwickelt und umgesetzt.
Der schonende Umgang mit Ressourcen steht bei POLYTEC seit
jeher im Mittelpunkt. Ziel der
Zertifizierung ist die Nutzung
aller Energiepotenziale, die Senkung von Energiekosten und die
Reduktion des Ausstoßes von
Treibhausgasen sowie anderer
damit in Verbindung stehender
Umweltbelastungen. Somit leistet das Energiemanagementsystem einen wesentlichen Beitrag
zum Umwelt- und Klimaschutz.

Das Pionierprojekt bei POLYTEC
PLASTICS in Lohne verzeichnet
durch die gesetzten Maßnahmen Erfolge auf ganzer Linie. So
konnte der Materialeinsatz nicht
nur durch die Wiederverwertung
sortenreiner Produktionsabfälle,
sondern auch durch eine erweiterte Standardisierung der Prozesse reduziert werden. Auf diese Weise erhöht sich die Qualität

der POLYTEC-Erzeugnisse. Außerdem wurden neue Heiz- und
Kühlkonzepte, eine optimierte
Isolierung der Spritzgussmaschinen sowie der Umstieg auf
LED-Technik umgesetzt.

des Energieverbrauchs
Mithilfe laufender Schulungen
sensibilisiert POLYTEC jeden einzelnen Mitarbeiter für das Thema
Energieeffizienz. Das Ziel ist eine
transparente Produktion im Hinblick auf die genaue Zuordnung
des Energieverbrauchs zu einem
konkreten Arbeitsschritt sowie
dessen Überwachung.
In zwei Pilothallen wurden bereits sämtliche Maschinen mit
fest installierten Messgeräten
ausgestattet — so kann jeder
Mitarbeiter über PC, Notebook
oder Mobiltelefon energierelevante Kennzahlen direkt und in
Echtzeit einsehen und bei Bedarf
direkt in den Prozess eingreifen.
Fünf weitere Standorte
erhalten die Zertifizierung
Seit November sind auch die
POLYTEC-Standorte in Gochs
heim, Cornberg, Voerde, Rastatt
und Weiden ISO 50001 zertifiziert. In Gochsheim erfolgte
bereits 2013 die wichtigste Maßnahme im Energiemanagement:
der Umstieg von Heizöl auf Erdgas. Der Gesamtwirkungsgrad
der Anlage stieg so von 77 %
auf 98 %, während der jährliche
CO2-Ausstoß um 120 Tonnen
gesenkt sowie die Engergiebeschaffungskosten um die Hälfte
reduziert wurden.
Neben der Ausstattung der
gesamten Niederlassung mit
LED-Beleuchtungstechnik, wurden weiters energiesparende
Hochfrequenzpumpen im Produktionsbereich installiert.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY IS THE NO.1 POLYTEC PRIORITY
A protective approach to the
use of resources has long been
a POLYTEC focal point and the
aim of certification is the use of
all energy potential and the reduction of energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions and any
other related pollutants. In this
way the energy management
system makes a significant contribution to environmental and
climate protection.

In February 2014, the POLYTEC PLASTICS plant in Lohne (Germany) became the group’s
first plant to be awarded ISO 50001 certification. In the meantime, the five German
COMPOSITES locations have all received this accreditation and in future, individual energy
concepts are to be developed and implemented at every POLYTEC works.
Increased efficiency due to
energy management
The measures taken during the
pioneering project at POLYTEC
PLASTICS in Lohne have provided success right down the
line. Material consumption
has been reduced both by the
reprocessing of sorted production waste and further
process standardisation. This
improvement has also resulted
in a simultaneous increase in
product quality. Furthermore,
among other measures, new
heating and cooling concepts,
the optimised insulation of
injection moulding machines,
and a switch to LED technology
have been implemented.
POLYTEC employees help
reduce energy consumption
Ongoing training has raised the
awareness levels of every individual employee with regard
to the topic of energy efficiency. This has enabled progress
towards the final objective of
achieving production transpa-
rency with regard to the precise
attribution of energy consumption to a specific production
phase and its monitoring. The
entire machinery in two pilot halls has been fitted with
permanently installed measurement devices, which allow
employees to call up energyrelevant data directly and in
real time via a PC, notebook or
mobile. If necessary, they can
then immediately intervene in
the process.

Gochsheim, Cornberg, V

Rastatt and Weiden all possess
ISO 50001 certification. In
Gochsheim, the most important
energy management
measure
was completed in 2013 with
the switch from heating oil to
natural gas. This raised overall
efficiency at the plant from 77
to 98 %, thereby slashing annual CO2 emissions by 120t and
halving energy sourcing costs.

Besonders interessant für die Ergänzung des POLYTEC-Produktportfolios sind dabei in einem

Bauteil vereinen. Beliefert werden Kunden wie Daimler, Jaguar
Land Rover und die VW Gruppe.

Die Übernahme der beiden Werke hat für die POLYTEC GROUP

nur das bestehende Produktportfolio kann mit innovativen

das Kundenspektrum des international tätigen Konzerns wird
optimal ergänzt.
So gelingt POLYTEC durch die
Akquisitionen unter anderem

Roosendaal develops and manufactures innovative components
in SMC, GMT, LFT and LWRT on
over 30,000 m2. The focus of the
location, which employs around
380 people, is on acoustic solutions and of particular interest
as a supplement to the POLYTEC
product portfolio are underbody covers, which are manufactured in a single production
process and combine aerodynamics, heat and noise absorption
as well as crash protection functions in just one part. Deliveries are made to customers that
include Daimler, Jaguar, Land
Rover and the VW Group.

Following several years of organic growth, in October 2014 the POLYTEC GROUP extended its range of competences
through the takeover of two voestalpine companies in the Netherlands. Both Dutch firms, with a combined workforce of

POLYTEC TAMES NOISY ENGINES
In order to reduce fuel consumption, automotive manufacturers are designing engines with increasingly
small cubic capacities. Performance is maintained by the massive use of up to four turbochargers, but
this creates the major disadvantage of rising engine noise levels. In order to counter this trend, since
2013 POLYTEC has been supplying Volvo with noise-absorbent Engine Soft Covers for all its petrol-driven
vehicles. M
oreover, cars from top customers such as Ford, BMW and Audi are also fitted with innovations
from the Acoustic Solutions product area.

In the commercial vehicle area,

Emissionsvolumen betrug 100
Mio. EUR mit Laufzeiten von 5
und 7 Jahren sowie fixer und variabler Verzinsung.
Die
durchschnittliche,
gewichtete
Verzinsung
zum
Zeitpunkt
der
Platzierung
belief sich auf 2,15 %. Valutatag
war der 30. September 2014. Die
Platzierung dient vorwiegend
zur mittelfristigen Absicherung
der weiteren strategischen und
operativen Wachstumspotentiale der POYLTEC GROUP auf der
Finanzierungsseite.
Die Platzierung des Schuldscheindarlehens führt auch zu
einem deutlichen Anstieg der
Bilanzsumme auf 394,2 Mio.
EUR und einem daraus resultierenden Rückgang in der Eigenkapitalquote von zuvor 50,2 %

On September 24, 2014 POLYTEC
GROUP announced that it had
successfully issued a EUR 100
million promissory note loan
with a maturity of 5 and 7 years
and a fixed and floating interest
rate mix.
The average weighted interest rate on the issue date
was 2.15%. The value date was
September 30, 2014. The issued
promissory note is mainly aimed
at safeguarding the
POLYTEC
GROUP’s mid-term strategic
and operating growth potential
on the financing side.
The placement of a promissory
note loan also led to a considerable increase in the balance
sheet total to EUR 394.2 million and to a resulting decrease
in the equity ratio from 50.2 %
on the balance sheet date as of
December 31, 2013 to 36.0 % as
of September 30, 2014.

Um den Verbrauch zu senken,
haben neue Motoren kleinere Hubräume. Durch hier eingesetzte Turbolader wird die
Leistung trotzdem auf dem
gewünschten Niveau gehalten.
Der dadurch erhöhte Kolbeninnendruck bewirkt jedoch, dass
der Anteil kleiner Öltröpfchen
im Blow-by-Gas zunimmt. Diese hoch entwickelten Motoren
stellen also auch erhöhte Anforderungen an die Ölabscheidung.

held in Europe’s largest
basalt quarry. POLYTEC
INDUSTRIAL was able
to impress the expert

wear-resistant
components for screening,
comminution, transport and dosing.

In September, together with Alice Godderidge, the group’s
CSO, Ralf Drees assumed the executive management of the
COMPOSITES business unit with its five German locations
and production plants in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the
Netherlands, Sweden and Turkey. The fifty-year-old with
a hands-on mentality administers the business unit, which
has annual sales revenues of around EUR 250 million, from
Gochsheim (Germany).

CAD-ENTWICKLUNG IM WANDEL DER ZEIT
ENGINEERING AM POLYTEC-STANDORT IN ENGLAND
1995 startete die CAD-Abteilung in Bromyard mit nur einem
Arbeitsplatz. Unix war damals
Betriebssystem der viel zu langsamen Computer. Unsere Kunden Ford, General Motors und
British Leyland nutzten unterschiedliche CAD-Softwaresysteme. Als unsere damaligen
Zielkunden begannen mit Catia
zu arbeiten, entschied sich auch
POLYTEC für diesen Schritt.
Zu dieser Zeit wurden Daten in
Form von unhandlichen Kassetten per Post verschickt oder
über spezielle Netzwerke heruntergeladen. Die Zeichnung eines
Stoßfängers war damals mit 10
MB eine riesige Datei, deren
Download Stunden dauerte.
Heute ist die CAD-Entwicklung
ein wesentlicher Bestandteil bei
POLYTEC. Jedes Projekt startet mit dem sekundenschnellen
Download von CAD-Daten. Die
Dateien haben jetzt nicht mehr
einige Mega-, sondern Gigabyte. Sie werden verwendet um die
Herstellungskosten zu schätzen,
die Werkzeuge zu konstruieren,
die Montagestationen zu designen und um die Abmessungen
der fertigen Bauteile zu kontrollieren.

Today, CAD is a totally integral
part of the POLYTEC business.
Every enquiry starts with 3D
CAD data downloaded through
the internet within seconds. File
sizes have grown from Megabytes into Gigabytes and the data
that describes the component is
also used to estimate the production price, manufacture the
mould tools, design the assembly jigs and fixtures and dimensionally check the final parts.

and the multifaceted activities throughout the entire group in what
is a demanding business environment, 2014 has emerged as a very
exciting year. Responding flexibly to the needs of an extremely
volatile market is and will continue to be a challenge that we are
meeting with success.
Strategische Themen wie gezielte Akquisitionen, Effizienzsteigerungen im Produktions- und Administrationsbereich, die Expansion des
Unternehmens Richtung China und nicht zuletzt die Entwicklung
vieler interessanter Neuprojekte bewegten uns in diesem Geschäftsjahr. Die daraus resultierenden Erfolge spornen uns für anstehende

Furthermore, strategic issues such as targeted acquisitions, increased
