Holy Trinity Primary School Review of the Year 2006-2007 Highlights of the year Family literacy Hampstead Heath Trips, especially Year 1 and 2 to the seaside World Book Day Healthy Living Week Sports events HUFF day Year 5 sleepover Bugsy! Christmas carol singing At Swiss Cottage Library And outside Waitrose Where we made some Christmas shoppers very cheerful! KS1 and KS2 pantomime Huff Day was lots of fun Everyone enjoyed beach volleyball, even without the sand …… Mr Rizzo led an energetic fitness workout There were athletics challenges and an inter-house tug-of-war An inter-house test match And of course a football challenge ….. Our Waitrose volunteers ran all the events And everyone had fun! Including the teachers! World Book Day Reception children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up Year 2 Year 1 Year 4 Year 3 Year 6 Year 5 Everyone dressed up as a real person! Healthy Food Week Reception made healthy pitta pockets, helped by our Waitrose volunteers Year 1 and Year 2 were very hungry! They couldn’t wait to eat the pitta pockets they had made Year 4 made a vegetarian lasagne which everyone enjoyed Year 3 went to the Winch where they prepared and ate a delicious lunch Year 5 concentrate as they make salad and fruit kebabs then they enjoy eating it all at carefully laid tables And Unfortunately there’s always the washing up to be done! Our governors visited in May to meet the children Our chair of governors is Marian Beha, an exheadteacher Ms Chester represents nonteaching staff on the governing body Parent governors Cate McLaurin and Alison Leao are parent governors. Cate has children in Yr 4 and Yr 2 and Alison has a son in Yr 6. They both sit on the Finance and Premises Committee and can advise you about the building project. Rachel Daniel has a son in Year 3 Baya Kapaya has a son in Year 6 Ms Alexander represents non teaching staff In the Summer term we all went to Hampstead Heath One of the highlights of the day was a whole school picnic in the park There were lots of activities to do Pond dipping Bug hunting Treasure hunting Orienteering Playing football And enjoying the adventure playground Whichever way you looked at it, it was a great day out We went on lots of good trips And had some interesting visitors Some exciting clubs Book club French club Basketball club Homework club Drama club Football club Nature club Sports Day 2007 Although it was rainy, KS1 had a great time and won lots of stickers KS2 went to the sports field Individual winners collected house points and the cup was won by Fantastic In the summer, Year 1 and Year 2 went to the seaside as part of a geography project Believe it or not, we did lots of hard work too …. We had some super teachers Mrs Jones retired after 33 years at Holy Trinity. She was responsible for the beautiful artwork around the school. We miss her very much. And some teachers got married and changed their names! Ms Twining is now known as Mrs White Ms Crockard is now Mrs Miller Ms DeMonick is now Mrs DeMonick Cross Ms James got married last term. She is now writing a book! Ms Smallwood got married in Hereford Ms Loukes got married in the country In 2007/2008 here’s what we plan to improve ……. •Increase the number of children who are making good progress by Developing our progress tracking systems Providing targeted support for children who are slipping behind Ensuring high achievers are stretched Setting individual targets for English and maths which are regularly reviewed Develop the role of school council by Providing training for elected school councillors Providing dedicated time for school council to consult with their peers Increasing the number of meetings Training elected council members to take on the role of chair and secretary Continue to develop pupils’ writing ability by Doing less writing but doing it better Providing opportunities that stimulate writing Create a literacy rich environment which nurtures a love of books Increase the number of volunteers reading with children Build up the use of WOW! words Raising standards of learning in ICT Ensure interactive whiteboards are used creatively Ensure pupils are confident using laptops in maths and literacy lessons as well as ICT lessons Take groups to Camden ICT Centre Continue to improve teaching and learning in maths by Introducing the new units of work for maths Ensuring children who need help with maths are supported in small groups Ensuring able children are stretched and extended Celebrating maths day Introducing maths boxes for home use Develop existing good relationship with parents by Making sure all parents know who the parent governors are and how they can help Ensuring parents are informed about building work Providing advice for parents on how to help their children learn better Thank you for coming to this review of the year We’d like to show you a short video of Year 1 and Year 2’s visit to the seaside Year 5’s sleepover HUFF day Bugsy!
