Polio goals for the year.

Official club visits continue
to provide a glimpse into the
many exciting activities and
projects being planned and
produced throughout the region.
Clubs are becoming quite
creative with new and unique
programs to raise funds for
club projects in the local community, to support their club’s
international efforts, and to
help fulfill their Foundation and
The Fairmont Rotary
Club is gearing up for a
unique auction on Saturday,
Sept. 26th featuring overstocked items from the top
television and online auction
site (they informed me we’re
not supposed to mention
QVC specifically). Details
available thru the district
database calendar link or
our District website at
www.rotary7530.org. A
portion of the proceeds will
benefit the club’s Polio efforts as well as various club
projects. The gavel drops at
5 PM at East Fairmont High
School.
The Weirton Rotary Club is
finalizing plans for their first
Oktoberfest at Milton Park in
Weirton … also on Saturday,
September 26th with the fun
beginning at 3 PM. The
festivities include authentic
German food, entertainment,
and activities for the entire
family … with a portion of
the proceeds going toward
their Polio Plus goal.
There are so many great
things occurring in our District … we just need to
“share” the information with
fellow clubs. If you have an
event, fundraiser, etc. that
you’d like promoted within
the District, PLEASE send
the basic info. to Clark
Reese, District webmaster,
for inclusion on our website.
The calendar on our District Database is also an
excellent resource for
“spreading the word”. Club
Presidents and Secretaries
can easily add an event to
the calendar—or contact
Rich Clemens for assistance

2009-2010 Youth Exchange Students
Begin their Journey in District 7530
Six of our seven YE Students
recently participated in their inbound orientation in Clarksburg,
hosted by the Harrison County
Club. Two additional students
from South Korea, from another
exchange program, joined our
group and met some new friends.
Special thanks to the Harrison
County Rotary Club for providing
the site for this special weekend
event, and for preparing a delicious luncheon for everyone on
Saturday. Several club members
were also on hand to meet our
new guests.

Tracking District Polio
Plus Contributions
Clubs in District 7530 are busy making
plans for a variety of fundraising events
to fulfill their $2,000 annual goal for RI’s
Polio Plus campaign, and we want to
make sure we track our progress in a
timely basis.
Since it often takes several weeks for
contributions to display in the Rotary
Foundation’s reports, please send all
Polio Plus donations, or a copy of the
check and applicable paperwork,
directly to our District Polio Plus
Chairman, Ron LaNeve.
Rotary International
If you have already submitted some
Polio Plus contributions directly to the
Foundation, please contact Ron with that
information to [email protected] or
contact him directly at 304 / 636-6105
(home).
Although Rotary International has reduced
a member’s attendance requirement to
50%, there are still some questions regarding proper reporting and accountability,
such as make-up meetings, excused absences, etc., so hopefully the following will
With Ron’s personal background receiving his own polio vaccine in the early help clarify these issues. It is important for
all clubs to follow the same procedure when

Let’s Get to Know Our
2009-2010 Youth Exchange Students
We are pleased to welcome seven s
udents from around the world to our District to spend a year learning our culture
and sharing theirs with us. I hope many
of you have the opportunity to meet these
exceptional young people sometime during the year.
Students, host families and counselors
recently participated in an orientation
program allowing students to meet each
other for the first time while host families
and club counselors received training and
instructions on what to expect in the coming months.
District Youth Exchange Chair Suzie
Steele of the Braxton Rotary Club reports
that all students are now in our District
and have already enjoyed a couple special activities including their initial Orientation, with assistance from the Harrison
County Club, and just returned from a fun
