TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – OCTOBER 2, 2016
RENEWING OUR FAITH
In today’s Gospel the Apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith. Probably they
were facing difficulties or even doubts in the discipleship. Our choice of following Jesus is
not always firm and decisive. There are moments when we feel weak and need some
encouragement. The prophet Habakkuk is so frustrated that he questions God if he is ever
going to take providences against his foes. God himself responds to his plea and
promises to make justice to the righteous who lives by the faith.
A similar situation is present in the letter of Saint Paul to Timothy. Timothy was
raised by Paul who shared with him the grace of Christ. Jesus is the Lord who has
transformed his life and saved him from error. Now, Paul is in the prison and Timothy
faces challenges in keeping his steadfastness before those who assail him. So Paul
encourages him to rekindle the gift of God, guard the good treasure entrusted to him and
not be ashamed.
Indeed our faith has to be nourished and renewed every day. We all have
inconstancies; sometimes it is hard to believe that God is really present and things will be
alright. However, it is not the quantity of faith that matters but its quality. Jesus said that if
our faith was like a mustard seed it would be able to move a mulberry tree whose roots
are deep and strong. The mustard seed may be small in size but it is great in potential of
becoming a big tree, bearing fruit, offering shelter and shade. Let us pray that the Lord
may help us grow in faith and not despair in time of tribulation.

CELEBRATION OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND MARY
First Friday of the Month, October 7, 2016
6:00 pm - Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and 7:00 pm - Mass.
SPECIAL COLLECTION – WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
There will be a special collection for the Evangelization of Nations, World Mission Sunday
on October 23rd. Your prayers and donations will help support churches, hospitals,
schools and vocations in other countries. Please pick up an envelope at the entrance of
the church to contribute to this special collection. Thank you for your generosity.
CATECHISM
The Catechism program will commence in the fall for students through grades 2-7. If
there are any children who will be receiving the Sacrament of Communion or the
Sacrament of Confirmation at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, please complete a
registration form as soon as possible. Forms are available in the parish office.
PILGRIMAGE TO MARYLAKE
The Pilgrimage to Marylake will be held on October 8th. Parishioners who are interested
in participating in our annual walk should meet at St. David's Church in Vaughan at 8:30

MASS ATTENDANCE COUNT
Cardinal Collins has requested that a weekend parishioner attendance count be
conducted annually in all parishes and missions of the Archdiocese in order to provide an
accurate profile of Mass attendance. This count will occur in our parish on the weekends
of Oct 15/16 and October 22/23. Every effort will be made to conduct the count with
minimal disruption to the Mass.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY
Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 - Rosary Prayer at 10:15am, followed by Bilingual Mass at
11:00 am. A procession with the Statue of Our Lady of the Rosary will commence at 12:00
noon accompanied by Lira de Brampton Band. At 1:00 pm, there will be free admission to
the parish hall and traditional Portuguese food will be available for purchase.
Entertainment will also be provided. All are welcome to join us in this celebration to honor
our Lady of the Rosary.
LEGION OF MARY – NEW MEMBERS WELCOME
Legion of Mary is a group of brothers and sisters, in union with Mary, that mainly
integrates in the apostolic work by visiting the elderly, the sick and praying daily. We have
the Divine Mercy prayer every Sunday at 9:30 am, before the 10:00 am Mass and a
meeting once a week at the Parish office. If you are interested in becoming a member,

****2016 FALL FOOD DRIVE****
Our parish is collecting non-perishable food items which will be distributed to the needy in
our community through Saint Thomas More Parish. We will be collecting until Tuesday,
October 4th, 2016. We need your support and generosity to help feed the poor and
hungry in our city. Thank you!
LECTIO DIVINA 2016-2017
One Sunday evening each month, all are welcome to join Cardinal Collins for Lectio
Divina at St. Michael's Cathedral. The first evening will take place Sunday, October 2nd
at 7 p.m.
7:00 p.m. - Vespers (Evening Prayer), 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. - Lectio Divina.

CATEQUESE
Vamos recomeçar a Catequese de preparação para a Primeira Comunhão e Confirmação. As
inscrições estão abertas para todas as crianças dos graus 2 a 7 interessadas em participar no
programa da Catequese e a celebrar os Sacramentos em nossa Paróquia.
PEREGRINAÇÃO A MARYLAKE
A Peregrinação a Marylake será no dia 8 de Outubro. Todos os paróquianos interesados
em participarem nesta caminhada annual, devem se reunir na Igreja de St. David
localizada a 2601 Major Mackenzie Dr. em Vaughan pelas 8:30H da manhã, onde partirá

CONTAGEM DE FREQUÊNCIA À MISSA
Cardeal Collins pediu que num fim de semana fizesse a contagem anual da participação
dos paroquianos à santa Missa, a fim de que a Archdiocese possam ter um número
exacto dos paroquianos que participam à Missa em todas as paróquias. Esta contagem
em nossa paróquia vai ser feita nos dias 15/16 e 22/23 de Outubro. Agradecemos a
vossa cooperação e fazemos esta contagem com o mínimo de interrupção à santa Missa.
FESTA DA NOSSA PADROEIRA
Domingo, 2 de Outubro – Será celebrada a festa solene anual de Nossa Senhora do
Rosário começando com a recitação do terço às 10:15 da manha, Missa bilíngue às
11:00 horas da manha, e procissão às 12:00 (meio dia) com acompanhamento da Banda
Lira de Brampton. Depuis a procissão, início à 1:00 hora tudos são bem-vindos no salão.
Entrada grátis e haverá comidas português para comprar.
COLETA DE PRODUTOS ALIMENTARES
A nossa Paróquia está angariando produtos alimentares para serem distribuídos às
pessoas necessitadas da nossa comunidade. Estes produtos serão distribuídos através
da paróquia de St. Thomas More. Por favor tragam os seus produtos até Terça-feira dia 4
de Outubro. Precisamos do vosso support e generosidade para auxiliar os pobres e os
infelizes que passam fome na nossa cidade. Obrigada!
LECTIO DIVINA 2016-2017
Todos estão bem-vindos a participarem num serão de um Domingo por mês para
celebrar a Lectio Divina com o Cardeal Collins na Catedral de St. Michael's. O
primeiro serão será Domingo dia 2 de Outubro às 7 horas da noite. Às 7:00H - Vésperas
(Oração da Noite), 7:30 a 8:15H da noite - Lectio Divina. Uma lista com as datas
completas e passagens da Escritura estão no website www.archtoronto.org/lectio. Cada
sessão vai estar arquivado no website. Os episódios podem também ser visto no Salt +
Light TV (www.saltandlighttv.org). O tema para estas sessões é "A Liberdade do Reino de
Deus".
RENOVANDO A NOSSA FÉ
No Evangelho de hoje os Apóstolos pedem a Jesus para aumentar a sua fé.
Provavelmente eles estavam enfrentando dificuldades ou até mesmo dúvidas no
discipulado. A nossa escolha de seguir Jesus não é sempre firme e decisiva. Há
momentos em que nos sentimos fracos e precisam de algum incentivo. O profeta
Habacuque encontrasse tão frustrado que chega a questionar se Deus vai tomar
providências contra os seus inimigos. O próprio Deus responde a seu apelo e promete
fazer justiça aos justos que vivem pela fé.
Uma situação semelhante está presente na carta de São Paulo a Timóteo.
Timóteo foi educado por Paulo que compartilhou com ele a graça de Cristo. Jesus é o
Senhor que transformou sua vida e salvou-lhe de erro. Agora, Paulo está na prisão e
Timóteo enfrenta desafios que ameaçam sua firmeza de fé diante daqueles que o
atacam. Assim, Paulo encoraja-o a reavivar o dom de Deus, guardar o bom tesouro
confiado a ele e não ter vergonha.
Na verdade a nossa fé tem de ser alimentada e renovada a cada dia. Todos
nós temos inconstâncias; às vezes é difícil de acreditar que Deus está realmente
presente e as coisas vão ficar bem. No entanto, não é a quantidade de fé que importa,
mas a sua qualidade. Jesus disse que se nossa fé for como um grão de mostarda
seremos capazes de mover uma amoreira que tem raízes profundas e fortes. A semente

de mostarda pode ser pequena em tamanho, mas é grande no potencial de se tornar uma
grande árvore, produzindo frutos, oferecendo abrigo e sombra. Oremos para que o
Senhor nos ajude a crescer na fé e não desesperar em tempo da tribulação.
